Not to put a damper on your spirits, but (IMO) John Lennon was the best singer ever.
My preference of music would be mostly those in the classic rock and soft rock genre. I just kind find anything in modern rock or hip hop. If you were to put it on a broad perspective however, I listen to just about all music genres except for Hip hop, jazz, and country.
Favorite bands include: Journey Lifehouse Bon Jovi AC/DC(backslash? forwardslash?) Styx Led Zeppelin and The Who
Last night on either MTV or VH1 they had the top 100 hard rock songs of all time countdown, I'm generally not a rock fan at all. But when its good, oh man is it great. Definitely inspired me to checkout some more Rock stuff in the future.
AC/DC was number 2 and frequented the list, Bon Jovi was in there, definitely Led Zeppelin. And I think number 1 was Guns N' Roses, Welcome to the Jungle.
A plan is only as good as those who see through it.
Hey guys I'm pretty excited you have a music section. I hate using the word "scene" so I'll just say I frequent a decent amount of down and dirty bar and house shows down in Steel City. Grew up listening to New York Hardcore, even have a Black Flag tattoo. So I guess with the little intro I'll try to break down the music I enjoy.
Old School Hardcore
Operation Ivy Black Flag Bad Brains Madball Death Before Dishonor Sick of It All Wisdom in Chains there's a lot more but I went with a snippet

I just have one more thing, a clip of the band Valient Thorr. These guys are awesome and always show up early to just chill and have a couple brews with everyone. Then we all get pretty toasted and they usually play around midnight. The video is staged for mega awesomeness, but truthfully that's how almost all their live shows are...

I'm a classic rock sort of guy (you know, stuff of the 60's to the 80's). I also listen to a little bit of metal and alternative.
Bands that I like and listen to: All bands fall under my classification of classic rock, Blue October, Cartel, Collective Soul, Escape the Fate, Fall Out Boy, Finger Eleven, Flyleaf, Hoobastank, The Killers, Linkin Park, Lostprophets, My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Nickelback, The Ramones, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Skillet, Snow Patrol, Three Days Grace, Weezer, Yellowcard, 3 Doors Down... I'm sure plenty more for me to name off. I just don't want to list them all.
-Van Halen -early Metallica (before band therapy) -Dragon Force -Queen -Deo -Black Sabbath -ACDC -System of a Down -Kiss -Mega Death ETC. Punk: -The Vandals -The Adicts -The Descendants -Rage Against the machine -The Drop kick Murphys -NOFX -Bad Religion -Bad Brains -Me First& the gimmegimmes -Lagwagon -Suicidal Tendencies -The Germs -Fear -Black Flag -Anti Flag -TSOL -The Dickies -Tiger Army -Less than JAke -Street Light Manifesto -Kent -alien ant farm -Reel Big Fish -ASkin For it ***takes breath*** and that's all i have to say about that
I personally like all music. Well, let me clarify. I don't literally like ALL music, but I view every song individually. I believe all niche's of music have good and bad music. While I may like far more dance songs than country songs, there are certainly some country songs that are good. Same with rap, classical, etc. I think someone who says they hate all of a genre is closed minded and just hasn't listened to enough of it. If a genre had nothing going for it, then it wouldn't exist.
My favorites though are probably 60's classics (Hendrix, Floyd, etc.) and dance anthems. However, if I listed my top 100 songs it would be all over the place. A truly good song actually gives me the shivers.
It's truly a great musical era we're living in. Just think of it: musical tastes vary widely per individual and a LOT of musical genres are generally accepted by society. What I mean to say is, we don't have the "listen to this song all day long or you're a loser" mentality anymore, or at least less than before.

In my eyes, if your not listening to Eye of the Tiger all day, you are a wooser. For serious.

Well, I kind of left your vision out because you don't listen to the right music.
